Leaping Luke in the black. An entire season ago!
It was so much fun to be a part of this football team/crowd. I know nothing about football and had to keep asking the other moms WHAT was going on - although I feel compelled to add that they didn't seem to know much more than I did. I do remember one little guy broke a bone (collar? arm? shoulder?) during the first game and had to sit on the side lines the rest of the time. His mom said he had fallen off the monkey bars at school the previous week so the doctor suspected that his football fall just furthered the fracture. Also, during practice, scrimmage with a guest team, another of Luke's teammates ran straight into another player and needed stitches somewhere on his forehead. So much for flag being 'safer' than tackle. Luke emerged unscathed however.
The coach was phenomenal. He was passionate about the sport but even more passionate about applying positive coaching (with solid challenges and corrections, too). He was part of the inspiration for Tim's decision to coach Dawson's soccer team last fall.
This post can kinda sorta be deemed timely, no? ...just before Superbowl. There's my justification. Hopefully Luke will buy it.
